In 7 years and 4 hours, I drove to the hosptial to have my planned C-section at 2:00pm. I arrived with my mother and brother to prep in the waiting room for the arrival of my new baby.
Little did I know what was in store for me, but after 1 spinal block, nausea medication, alot of pressure in my abdomen, some amazingly supportive nurses, and one tride but true physician, my daughter came into this work at 2:37 pm.
Weighing 7 lbs 13 oz, 19 inches long, a perfect apgar score, no jaundice, covered in gunk....
She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen!
She cried immediately.
The rest of the day was kind of a blur because I was on dilaudid, after the Morphine gave me hives and I received a heafty does of benadryl IV.
I didn't realize I needed to feed my baby until about 7pm one of my friends said, "Don't you need to feed her?"
Anyways, the lactation consultant came in and showed me how to breastfeed my newborn.
The next day, Brianna was taken to the nursery for her bath, etc. so I decided to walk down to the lobby to buy some popcorn... not a good idea less than 24 hours after a c-section.
I made it to the lobby, sat down in the elevator and waited for someone to recognize that I couldn't stand up.
I was 19 years old and very naiive.
I probably am still a little naiive, but I do know a little something about raising children now :)
Brianna is more girl than I can even wrap my mind around.
She's so stubborn, opionated and loud but I have always told her to tell the truth so I guess I shouldn't expect much else.
She is very caring and careful about not hurting people's feelings. Especially those she loves.
She has a great intuition and goes above and beyond for her friends and family.
She loves to plan parties and is heartbroken that she is going to miss my friend, Sarah's shower.
She is in California this week visiting her dad but I called to tell her Happy Birthday and I could hear her big smile on the other end of the line.
I love that kid and am proud to be called her "Mom".
That's all for now
